A New Chapter for DiJiFi: Rooted in Greenpoint, Looking Ahead

After nearly 18 years at 1166 Manhattan Avenue, DiJiFi is preparing to move to a new studio at 61 Greenpoint Avenue.

This isn’t a decision we made lightly. For almost two decades, this building—and this block—has been part of our daily rhythm. It’s where thousands of reels, tapes, photographs, negatives, and family archives passed through our hands. It’s where technicians honed their craft, where workflows were built and rebuilt, and where countless personal and institutional histories were preserved with care.

When we first moved into 1166 Manhattan Avenue, Greenpoint was already a neighborhood with deep roots, but it was quieter then—more industrial, more transitional. Over the years, we watched it change block by block. Old factories became studios, then offices, then housing. New restaurants arrived. Longstanding ones disappeared. The neighborhood evolved, as neighborhoods do.

What we didn’t expect (at least not in this particular way) was that the building itself would become part of a much larger story.

Earlier this year, we learned that our longtime home would be taken over as part of the New York Liberty’s expansion, transforming the building into a dedicated facility tied to the team’s growing presence in the city. It was surprising, certainly, but also emblematic of where New York is right now. The Liberty’s rise is exciting, and their investment speaks to the continued importance and vitality of this part of Brooklyn.

At the same time, it meant we needed to find a new place to call home.

Rather than viewing this as an ending, we chose to treat it as an opportunity to be intentional; to stay close to the community that shaped us while rethinking how our studio functions for the future. We’re proud to say that we’re not leaving Greenpoint. We’re simply moving a few blocks over.

Our new studio at 61 Greenpoint Avenue keeps us firmly rooted in the neighborhood we know and love. We’ll still be serving the same clients, working with the same care, and upholding the same standards that have defined DiJiFi for nearly two decades. What will change is the space itself: a layout better suited to our current workflows, new efficiencies, and room to continue refining how we do this work at the highest level.

As with any move of this scale, there’s a brief pause built in. The studio will be appointment-only from December 22-24, followed by our seasonal holiday break beginning December 25. We’ll return to the studio on January 5, refreshed and ready to begin this next chapter.

We’re deeply grateful to our clients—many of whom have been with us for years—for your trust, patience, and support. DiJiFi has always been about continuity: honoring the past while preparing it for the future. This move is no different.

Greenpoint has changed. We’ve changed, too. But our commitment to preserving stories, histories, and memories—carefully, thoughtfully, and with respect—remains the same.

We look forward to welcoming you to our new home soon.
